The local phone company (Bellsouth now ATT) really screwed me over with some mistakes and number changes the past few years. So, my business lost a lot of money and I had no money to pay the outrageous bill. Well they have now started pursuing me and/or my business with some collections company. For the first time they threatened something about my credit, my phone, or my business credit. This account is in the name of a corporation, but of course it is just my small business. I still am in good standing paying the phone bill – but the advertising is behind by almost $10,000.

Aside from my business credit getting kicked or no YP advertising for next year … do I have anything to worry about. I just really need my phone number to stay in place for at least another year else I won’t be able to make any money with my business. Also, my personal credit is very good … and I’ve been told they shouldn’t hit it with bad debt from my corporation just because I’m the “president” of it.
TIA for any informed help on this. I have some very valid disputes with the phone company over these ads but they are just denying all responsibility and demanding payment as usual.
ATTN: I’m really MOST concerned about whether or not they can disconnect my business phone over this Yellow Page debt. I can’t seem to get a straight answer from anyone, but there must be many other people out there who have owed the phone company money for Yellow Pages and could tell me if they disconnected their number at any time?
